Comedian Eddie Murphy made his return to television recently. In one skit he talks about gentrification. The piece is both funny and truthful. As new constituencies come to particular cities, many bring their own pattern for churches, rather than joining existing urban congregations. While, this may challenge notions of the one body of Christ. This makes sense when we consider that there are likely different needs and concerns addressed in the various worshiping communities. In some cases it seems as if a different faith is practiced. Perhaps, with work, and time, groups can worship together around a common liturgy before returning to preferred neighborhoods, interests, and concerns. photo credit: the Philadelphia Inquirer.
